How to Set up a Recurring Gift Using Braintree
In order to use Recurring Billing with Braintree, you must first create a plan(s) in Braintree directly. If you need assistance with doing this, please see the Knowledge Base guide on ‘How to Set up Recurring Billing with Braintree’.
Before setting up a contact for recurring billing, you may set up Gift Defaults for Recurring Gifts. Do this by going to Settings > System Settings > Recurring Gift Options > Recurring Gift Defaults.
- To set up a new Recurring Gift, search for a contact, and click on their record. Then, click on the ‘Recurring’ tab.
- Click on ‘Add Recurring Gift’.
- Enter the Recurring Gift Amount, select the plan, and click on ‘Next’.
- If the contact has existing cards, they will display as payment options. You can select one of these cards, and click on ‘Use Selected Method’ or click on the ‘Use Another Method’ link to enter a new card.
- If you are entering a new card, enter the card information, and select the ‘Use Card’ button. For PayPal accounts, select the ‘Pay with PayPal’ button. The email that is listed here will be the email that is sent to Braintree with this subscription.
- A confirmation screen will then display showing the status of the new recurrence account and if it was created successfully. We recommend reviewing our Knowledge Base guide on ‘How to Process Recurring Gifts Using Braintree’ too.
