How to Test Your Web Form

Once you create a Web Form, you will likely want to test it to make sure everything is working properly.

You can either test the form in test mode or live.

Test Web Forms Live

Test Web Forms in Test Mode

Testing Web Forms in Test Mode

NOTE: If you change your Credit Card Settings to Test Mode, ALL Web Forms with payments will be in test mode! Please do not use Test Mode if you have Live Web Forms that you do not wish to disturb.

You can put your Braintree or Stripe account in Test Mode to test your form. If you use EleoPay, test mode is not available.

To put your account in Test Mode, go to 'Settings' on the top right in Eleo and then select 'System Settings'. Be sure to click 'Edit' on the top right. Then scroll down to the 'Credit Card Settings' section.

Change the Connection Type from 'Live' to 'Test'. Go back to the top of the page and press 'Save'.

Please Note: When testing in Test Mode, ONLY test credit card numbers will work, not actual card numbers! See list of test Credit Cards below.

TYPE CARDS TO TRIGGER SUCCESS CARDS TO TRIGGER FAILURE
Visa 4111111111111111 4012888888881881

Discover 6011111111111117 6011000990139424

Test your Web Form. Then go back to 'Settings' on the top right in Eleo and select 'System Settings'. Be sure to click 'Edit' on the top right. Then scroll down to the 'Credit Card Settings' section and change your Connection Type back to 'Live' and press 'Save'.

Testing Web Forms Live

NOTE: If you click 'Preview' on the top of your Web Form Dashboard, it will show you the form and allow you to fill it out, however, the Credit Card Page will not appear and no emails will be sent. All live Web Forms with payments will automatically show the payment page after the initial form is completed and submitted.

Testing Event Registration Web Form

Testing Membership Web Form

Testing a Contact Web Form

This is the simplest type of form to test. Since it is only collecting data, and no payments, you can just fill out the form yourself and make sure everything comes through as you would like. You can always Ignore the Web Form submission if you do not want that data in your Eleo database. Or if you do add the data, you can delete the contact record if you would like.

Testing a Donation Web Form

You have options:

1) You can fill out the form and give a small donation, and if you are comfortable just leave it as a valid donation to your organization.

2) OR you can void / refund that transaction.

To void or refund the transaction, see steps here. Please note - a void is when the money has not been taken yet and is the preferred choice, so try to do this right away after processing (usually within 24 hours). A refund is once the money has been taken and it is possible your payment processor could charge a fee for this.

Testing an Event Registration Web Form

You have options for this also:

1) Temporarily change the price of one of your Event Activities to a smaller amount. Then fill out the form. You can then still void / refund this money when you are done if you would like. If you need help with this please see the steps here. Please note - a void is when the money has not been taken yet and is the preferred choice, so try to do this right away after processing (usually within 24 hours). A refund is once the money has been taken and it is possible your payment processor could charge a fee for this. *Be sure to change the price of the Event Activity back when you are done testing.

2) Leave the pricing as is, and complete the form. Then when you are done you can void / refund this transaction. See steps above.

Testing a Membership Web Form

Options are:

1) Fill out normal Web Form, then void / refund the transaction. See steps to do so here. Please note - a void is when the money has not been taken yet and is the preferred choice, so try to do this right away after processing (usually within 24 hours). A refund is once the money has been taken and it is possible your payment processor could charge a fee for this.

2) Make a test membership type for a lesser amount. Choose this when creating and filling out the Web Form to test. Be sure to remove it when you are done.
