How to Send a List to Mailchimp
1. From any screen in Eleo, hover over Mailings, and select Create a Mailing.
2. Select the type of mailing you want to create. For this example, we will choose Thank You.
3. Select the Email Template or Create a Template if necessary.
Note: Use Eleo to pull and export the contacts you want to email, then switch to Mailchimp to compose and send the email directly. Eleo manages your donor data, while Mailchimp handles email creation and delivery.
4. Choose Email as the Template Type, and then select the Email Template that you wish to use by pressing Select.
5. Use the filters to narrow down the recipient list and gifts. For this example, I have chosen ‘Gifts Marked Send Thank You’ as Yes. Scroll to the bottom and press Continue.
6. Since this is an email, only gifts associated with contacts containing email addresses will be a part of this list. Rename the mailing to match your Mailchimp Campaign name. Then Select Save Mailing.
7. This last screen shows the list of gifts and the contacts associated with the gifts. Select Send to Mailchimp to send the list of names to Mailchimp where you can complete and send your email.
8. Once clicked, you will see a screen similar to this. You may either Add to an existing Mailchimp Campaign OR Create a New Mailchimp Campaign. Then press Continue.
9. If you chose to add a new campaign, you will need to complete all fields as shown below and click on Save.
10. If you chose an existing campaign from the dropdown, when you click Continue you will see this image right away, and if you created a new one, you will see this once you click on Save.
11. When it is done, you should receive a message that Mailchimp was successfully updated.
- NOTE: It may take a few moments to actually see the list appear in Mailchimp.
12. Once you have created your email with graphics in Mailchimp, and scheduled and/or sent the thankyou email, select Mark Mailing as Sent to mark the gift as being thanked in the donor’s contact record.
